Overcoming Story Wounds

As I know firsthand, and as I hear from you in direct messages, writing (telling) about what happened to us as religious trauma and high control survivors comes with all sorts of fears and anxieties.

  • What if you get in trouble?
  • What if the wrong people find out what you said?
  • What about legal repercussions?

But more deeply...putting down on the page what you experienced can be terrifying. Naming our experiences is difficult; understanding the context in which they occurred is life-changing.

In my new book, I BELONG TO ME, out next May, I refer to this feeling as a "story wound." Our stories may be riddled with scar tissue, old secrets, agendas, imposter syndrome, or insecurities about the craft of writing itself.  The result? We're stuck. And so are our stories.

Join me for an in-depth session that hopes to answer these fears and honest questions with information, reassurance, and courage.

Dec 12 at 1 EST. You'll also receive a recording of the session to listen to at your pace and as many times as you want, as well as a companion guide to help you get writing.

Have questions about story wounds? You can send them in ahead of time and they'll be considered for answering live in the session.
